Best Looks: Christian Dior Haute Couture 17/18
The Christian Dior Haute Couture 17/18 was held on July 3 at the Hotel des Invalides in Paris. The collection is a follow up to Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Resort show and features many recognizable elements and themes from this previous collection.

Theme: Exploration, travelling, cultural diversity. A celebration of the global reach of Dior in all corners of the globe.
Colour Palette: Variations of grey, solid black, primary red, navy blue, beige, lilac, cream.
Texture: the collection began with very sturdy woolen textures, and progressed towards lighter, floaty fabrics.
Embellishment: an exciting array of embellishments achieved in a variety of ways. Embroidery, fabric manipulations (pleating, rouching, gathering, ruffling, cording, fringing), vibrant prints, lace.
Accessories: slim belts with long tails worn at the waist, symbolizing function over form. Jewellery: double sided pearl earrings worn on one ear only.
Hats: Fedora style grey hats with some looks.
Gloves: black leather gloves held in hand. A symbol of practicality and usefulness.
Silhouette: waistlines are the smallest part of the silhouette, achieving perfectly proportioned hourglass shapes. Hemlines vary – some are quite straight while others are flared.
